Natural and Artificial Lights

Even before the evolution of various civilizations and the progress of science, man has always been extremely fascinated with light. The sun as they say makes man wonder of the great power that is seen responsible for life on earth. Most scholars actually claim that religion came to be because of man’s curiosity of the majestic object shining brightly above.

Science teaches that the air we breathe is a byproduct of the vast greens that rely on the sun to process their food. Light today, plays a very vital part in man’s life. In this era of technological progress, light actually fuels life, practically lighting every aspect of modern society.

Lighting is a simple yet very truly sensible concept of intentional application and tapping of light in order to accomplish aesthetic yet practical effect. There are different types of lighting. It is achieved either through natural sources from daylight or synthetic (artificial) means like lamps and bulbs. Artificial or synthetic is mainly provided for by either gas lighting or electric lights.

In the olden days, things were very rudimentary and simple. They would only settle for gas lighting such as candles and oil lamps. Today, people largely use electric lighting.  But gas lighting is still being used in some parts of the globe, more specifically in remote communities where electricity is not reached.

Day lighting comes directly from the sun. Institutions like schools, offices, buildings, and houses save up on electricity cost by using day light. The windows or rooftops are opened so that light can penetrate inside. The sun rises in the east, and architects consider this important fact in their designs.
